Sunrise

I woke up this morning before dawn
because I wanted to see the birth of a new day
So I made my way down to the sea side to witness the unfolding drama of a new day

The morning was quite still as still as can be
The only song I heard was the rhythmic crashing of the waves on the shore
The surface of the sea was as dark as dark can be .
I stood still with bated breath to witness the pending birth of day

Suddenly out of nowhere a seagull flew over the sea
It seem to be heading in an easternly direction
Then it began to whistle in the air
It was soon joined by a choir of other gulls as they sang their praises to welcome a new day
The coconut branches began to rustle as if applauding the melodies of praises
I thought I was witnessing a worship session so I knelt down and prayed

A glimpse of light burst from the eastern sky as the sun arose from its slumber
Causing the darkness to flee in the face of a rising sun
With an urgency as a bridegroom going unto his bride
The sun climbed up into the sky
The atmosphere was instantly transformed as the rays of light streaked across the sky
The surface of the sea was changed into a silvery carpet as the light brighten everything in his path.
There was music everywhere as the waves maintain a steady beat on the shore
I found myself dancing to the music as all nature seemed to explode in unbridled joy as it welcome the new day

I was transfixed having witnessed the dawn of a new day
I was excited as a first-time father seeing the birth of his new born child
I was blessed to be in the right place at the right time
It was as if I was standing in heavenly places.
