Halloween
Many persons argue that Halloween is a harmless day of fun when kids dressed up like ghost and witches, go from door to door. But is it really so?
This day grew out of Celtic rituals and European prayer rituals. The name ,Halloween has its beginning in the Catholic Church that adopted certain Celtic practises. They believe that spirits of those who died returned on October 31 st ,each year to possess living people.(All saints day)
Also the trick and treat part came from the 9th century Europeans through a custom called souling(All souls day).
The custom of Halloween was brought to America in 1840 by the Irish immigrants and it have spread throughout the world even in my country!
When I was in Canada last year distributing christian literature,90% of the houses I visited had a symbol(Jack -O-Latern or pumpkin) celebrating Halloween.Even the stores were filled with items dedicated to the day.
And I asked myself ,how something so bizarre could gain so much popularity when the Bible warns us about these practises.Deuteronomy 18:10-12 says
There shall not be found among you anyone that maketh his son or daughter to pass through the fire,or that useth divination ,or observer of times or an enchanter,or a witch.Or a charmer ,or a consulter with familiar spirits ,or a wizard,or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord...
We are not to get involved with any thing that deals with the spirits ,they are usually demonic spirit which will posess you.If you want to walk in heavenly places there are certain rituals and festivals you will have to give up!
